About me
Hi, I'm Michelle! I have more than a decade of experience in institutional fundraising. I started out as a grant writer, eager to use my writing skills to help organizations doing good work. I progressed in full-time roles from grant writing to leading institutional giving teams and developing organization-wide fundraising strategies. When I started my own business in 2023, I decided to get back to two things I love: writing and organizing. That's why I focus on offering three core services: grant writing; prospect research (which I see as organizing information); and developing processes and systems for clients (more organizing!).
My current client roster includes organizations in workforce development, education, the arts, and services for people with disabilities. Personally, I'm most passionate about issues in reproductive justice, LGBTQ+ rights, education, and food policy. But what I love about consulting is the opportunity to work across sectors and learn new things. I'd love to learn about your work and help your organization grow.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Barnard College, Columbia University and a Master of Public Policy from Brown University. In my spare time, I like to knit, read, hike, teach my dog silly tricks, and plan elaborately themed events with my friends.
A Note on Philanthropy
Traditional philanthropy is changing, and that's a good thing. I'm eager to work with anti-racist, pro-social-justice organizations. I hope our work together can help shift longstanding institutionalized power imbalances, in philanthropy and elsewhere. I'm excited by shifts in the industry toward transparency, equity, trust-based philanthropy, and general operating support. We have a long way to go, but I'm here to help you navigate the system that's in place now—as imperfect as it is.
